“Melo”, “CP3”, Wade And LeBron Open ESPYs With Moving Speech

Four superstar athletes and friends opened up last night’s ESPYs on ABC by taking a stand. Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James spoke on the recent issues regarding police violence in the African American community beginning with “Melo” on ABC.

The introduction lasted about three-minutes-and-30 seconds and follows high-profile shootings in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis and Dallas.

All four NBA stars spoke eloquently: Chris Paul said as pro athletes, they have to follow in the footsteps of former athletes. Dwyane Wade stated that police violence towards minorities can’t keep happening, while LeBron James implored fellow athletes to do more.
