Jack White returned to his hometown of Detroit this week, first to play a gig, then to go to the baseball field. Half an hour into his show at the historic Fox Theater, White said goodbye and had the stagehands close the curtain after apparently becoming too frustrated with an unenthusiastic audience. But he got over himself and went on to play a pair of encores that featured 22 songs. Maybe he considered it a good rehearsal.
Then Jack was off to Comerica Park last night to throw out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers game. This act can go very wrong for non-athletes, but judge for yourself. I personally think it was successful but very boring and a little weak.

Last year, Carly Rae Jepsen (Call Me Maybe One Hit Wonder) threw out the first pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays game — except no one would really consider it a pitch. It was more of an uncoordinated arm thrust.
