Listen To Clint Dempsey’s New Rap Single (Beastmode Included)

First rule of business: Strike while the iron is hot. And that is exactly what Seattle Sounder and World Cup hero Clint Dempsey is doing.

On Monday night, in a match between the US Men’s National Team and Ghana, team captain Dempsey scored a beautiful goal in the first 30 seconds, making him the 5th fastest goal scorer in World Cup History. Then, Ghana breaks his nose. Accident, yes, but attention grabbing, definitely.

Now Clint has dropped the first single from his new rap album, which will be released in its entirety after the games are over in Brazil. We know he has a rapping history, when he collaborated with fellow Texans Big Hawk (now deceased) and XO, his current rap partner and producer on this Nike supported video.

Clint, aka Deuce, talked to the Wall Street Journal:

“We just were having fun with it and it ended up being an album,” said Mr. Dempsey, who collaborated with rappers and producers from his hometown of Nacogdoches, Texas.

This message is on the Deuce and XO website where you can purchase a clean and explicit download of the song, It’s Poppin,’ for a buck.

“First and foremost, thank you for the love and support of this project. This was about having a good time with friends making dope music. I want to hear what you think. You can hit me any time on my cell, [number], and I’ll personally connect with you to say thank you.A portion of all proceeds from this project will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank to help others in need.
On behalf of Deuce and myself, I thank you again! SALUTE! – XO”

Here’s a sample of the clean version, of course, from Deuce and XO. Deuce gives a nod to Marshawn ‘Beastmode’ Lynch, too.
