Have you been to The Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle? It’s pretty cool. It’s down by the waterfront – just north of all the piers and just before you get to Myrtle Edwards Park.
The Sculpture Park is a great place to go for some quiet in the midst of all that city busy-ness. The funny thing about this piece, called Wake, is that you can’t touch it. It’s rough so maybe you don’t want to, but it’s nearly impossible to keep your hands to yourself.
According to Wikipedia, each piece of Wake is structurally composed of two huge sheets of curved weathering steel that are mirror images of each other put together to form what Serra calls “Ws” or “W units” and sometimes “Wiggles” (after the letter “W”).
