This was not your average symphony show. There was classical music mixed in with a little rap and booty shaking. Sir Mix-A-Lot performed his Grammy-winning hit 1992 rap song “Baby Got Back” along with the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall last night.

More than a dozen women were happy to take the stage with the Seattle rapper as he broke into the song with the help of cellists, violinists and horn players from French conductor Ludovic Morlot’s orchestra. The ladies weren’t shy with their dance moves either.

Sir Mix-A-Lot is part of the Seattle Symphony’s Sonic Evolution project where composers write orchestral compositions inspired by the work of bands and singers from the city according to KING 5.
