The President was obviously thrilled to meet our Seattle Seahawks, because he was ON! Like any championship-winning team, the Hawks were welcomed to the White House yesterday by Mr. Obama, in honor of winning its first NFL championship.
As a reminder, the Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 in February of this year, and PUSA said coach Pete Carroll is a deserving champion. He also applauded the team’s charitable efforts and added that the “Legion of Boom’ was led by oustanding defensive backs.
Then, the jokes: Obama was not going to let Richard Sherman speak yesterday after his on-camera post-game rant following the NFC title game.
“I considered inviting Sherman up here to the podium today… I’d have given him the mic, but you know we’ve got to go in a little bit.”
Marshawn Lynch got it, too, even though he wasn’t there, as the president mentioned Lynch’s disdain for talking to the media.
“He’s not here today, but we’ve got to give props to ‘Beast Mode,’ Marshawn Lynch. I am sorry that Marshawn is not here because I just wanted to say how much I admire his approach to the press. I’d like to get some tips from him.”
