We’re so happy that one of the best radio voices of all time was found. And found right here in Washington state. He is reported to be suffering from Dementia at the age of 82. He’s been the focus of some family drama of late: Kasem’s children say his wife, Jean Kasem, has prevented them from visiting their dad. For the whole story on his disappearance and reappearance, read it here at CBS Radio Seattle.
But let’s talk about the golden age of Casey Kasem and staying up late at night to listen to his American Top 40 countdown. I’d set my cassette tape recorder right next to my AM radio speakers and listen back to it all week.
My other favorite memory was when I first got into radio and the DJs I worked with turned me onto this bit of juicy audio. Casey was taping his intros for his show and lost it. Fortunately for us, the audio was not lost. I had to bleep the expletives, but you’ll still love it. As we love Casey. Glad you’re found, old friend.
