Because it’s 2014, a major hint was dropped via Twitter photo that a supergroup composed of some major artists is currently recording in a Portland studio.
Filmmaker Lance Bangs posted this tweet:
Immediately afterward, the Internet exploded.
Members of the group (which is currently being referred to as ‘Super-Earth’) include former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, Sleater-Kinney vocalist Corin Tucker, Minus 5 guitarist Scott McCaughey and former Ministry drummer Bill Rieflin.
News of the group’s formation has been circulating for awhile. According to The Oregonian, the group debuted 12 songs during an April performance at Portland’s Secret Society.
However, Novoselic seems to be a new addition to the band, and the tweeted imaged was the first time all members have appeared together.
