Tonight, new Mariner Robinson Cano takes to the field in the Bronx for the first time since leaving the Yankees for a 10 year deal with the Seattle Mariners. Will he get booed by his former NYC fans? What do you think?

In this video from the Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon attempts to get Robinson de-sensitized to the inevitable, while at the same time punking some of New York’s finest booers.

Hilarious, yes? Most incredible is how quickly these fans back down when they meet the real Cano, immediately shaking hands and welcoming him back to the city.

Robinson turned down a Yankees’ 7 year offer of $150 million for a Mariners’ deal of 10 years at $240 million so he could be part of rebuilding the Seattle team. Anyway, that’s what we like to tell ourselves. Yankees fans would phrase that differently and say terrible things about Cano, like ‘money -grubbing deserter,’ and similar vituperations.
