You can breath easy now, ‘Hawks fans. Not only is Seattle is making moves early to keep some of its most prized players on the team for 2015, but those players may soon be able to afford small countries (or, at the very least an island or two).
A lot of Seattle Seahawks fans were a bit worried going into this season that Seattle — a team with the number one defense in the NFL — would lose a couple defensive stars to free agency in 2015.
Thankfully, the powers-that-be with the ‘Hawks franchise seem to share this fear with fans. The team is reportedly on the brink of closing a contract extension with Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman (the $13 million per year deal would make him the highest-paid corner in the league). And, as of Monday afternoon, the team officially signed free safety Earl Thomas to a $40 million, 4-year contract extension, with just over $27.7 million guaranteed.
