Alex Morgan: How To Go Up Against Hope Solo In Pro League [Interview]
Alex Morgan is a busy woman. She’s a star forward with the US Women’s National Soccer team, a World Cup winner, an Olympic Gold medalist, and a member of the Portland Thorns (one of the teams along with the Seattle Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League). Who would think she’d have time to write a book? It’s actually her third, in the KICKS series of books for kids.
When I spoke with Alex, we talked about when playing in the new pro league for women, what it’s like to go up against a fellow National teammate, some of whom are cool, and some who need to bring it down a notch.
She’s impressed with the fans in the Northwest, too, and excited for Seattle’s new home at Memorial Stadium.
“The fans are like no other (in Portland), and obviously Seattle has done really well. But to come home and play to a crowd of 15,000 – what a support – the Northwest does it right.”
I reminded Alex that we, the Seattle Reign, just acquired her good pal and National teammate Sydney Leroux:
“I know… Syd’s a really great player. We’re really good friends off of the field, and now she’s only 3 hours from me, and I’m not too made about that, I get to see her more often now.”
