Isn’t this the girl who got famous by singing, “I kissed a girl”? (And she liked it.) Why, then, Katy Perry, would you bastardize Beatles lyrics?
Katy Perry was one of the many artists to help pay tribute to the Beatles on Sunday night’s CBS special commemorating the 50th anniversary of the group’s appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” The pop star took on the classic “Yesterday.”
She changed the words of the famous and highly revered song “Yesterday” from, Why she had to go, I don’t know, to why he had to go… And, from Man to Girl. Uncool. When you perform at a Beatles’ tribute night, you must sing the song as originally written by the most famous song-writing team ever. McCartney and Lennon.
The Twittersphere is ablaze with protest. Of course. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were on hand to witness performances of some of their classic hits by the likes of Dave Grohl, Annie Lennox, and John Mayer, among others.
