Politician Resigns In Klingon

How did we miss this?

Last Thursday, a politician from North Carolina used the Klingon language (from Star Trek) to write his letter of resignation from a town council.

David Waddell says he used the Sci-Fi language as an inside joke — something that, at first, didn’t sit well with the Indian Trail Town’s mayor Michael Alvarez who initially called the letter “unprofessional.” Alvarez lightened up shortly after, however, telling Waddell to “Live long and prosper!”

“Teach (the) city (the) constitution,” said the English translation of the letter. “I will return next time to (witness) victory.”

Waddell says he is resigning at the end of this month. His four-year term expires in December 2015.
