This is one of those stories that could only happen in Florida.
This dude Matt Skytta at some point thought he came up with a brilliant idea to get a free meal at IHOP: pretend to be a cop.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Skytta walked into the restaurant and told a server, “I am a cop, and I get food for free.” The server told him that police officer do, in fact, have to pay for their meals at IHOP and then asked Skytta to leave. According to the arrest report Skytta refused to leave until he got his free food.
The server started to call 911, and at that point Skytta had one more great idea to try and get free pancakes: pull down his pants. This however did not result in any free pancakes, only reactions of horror from other customers.
Police came and arrested Skytta, who told officers he was actually a Green Beret.
Surely a short stack would have been cheaper than bail.
