Call it a Christmas miracle or, maybe more accurately, a mistake, but for a short time over the weekend, Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming album was available to download a few weeks earlier than originally expected.
Springsteen’s High Hopes, officially set to drop on Jan. 14, was up for sale via Amazon’s mobile site on Saturday (Dec. 28). The site did not allow fans to buy the full album, but to buy each of the 12-track on the record individually.
As Billboard points out, it’s still unclear whether or not this was Amazon’s intention since they took the album off the market shortly after realizing it was available to buy early. Unfortunately, those who had already bought High Hopes quickly uploaded it to file-sharing websites for all to download for free.
The Boss himself as yet to comment on the leak.
