On my Sunday morning radio program, heard at 7am on Jack FM, I often put out a call for folks to call me up with their favorite non-profit group doing good work in our region. This is how I found out about The Sophia Way, an east-side shelter for homeless women. Yes, these women get a place to stay, but even more. The folks at the Sophia Way help them get back on their feet and on to a happier life with a permanent address.
I spoke with Executive Director Katherine Jordan about the program and about some personal stories of women brought down by a bad economy into homelessness… and then about their triumphs at The Sophia Way.
