Styx and REO Speedwagon Headline ‘Rock To The Rescue’

Styx and REO Speedwagon will hold a benefit concert to assist families in central Illinois affected by the recent tornadoes in the Midwest.

The concert, titled “Rock to the Rescue,” will be held on December 4 at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Bloomington.

REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin, a native of Champaign, says it is the band’s duty to help their fellow residents of the Prairie State.

“I believe that we need to take care of our own,” Cronin said in a press release. “The people of Illinois are our own, and we are theirs.”

STYX guitarist James “JY” Young, a native of Chicago, agrees.

“The good people of Illinois lent support and a helping hand to every artist on this bill at different times in their respective careers, and we owe a tremendous debt,” said Young. “It’s our turn to ask what we can do for this great state, and the best way we know to help those in need is to get on stage and let the incredible healing power of music play its part in rebuilding Illinois.”

Ticket prices for “Rock to the Rescue” start at $28. Direct donations are also offered at http://rocktotherescue.net/. All the proceeds from the event will be donated to specific communities in central Illinois that were affected by the disaster.
