Oh dumb criminals, how we love you. The conventional wisdom is that while you’re committing a crime, you try and make it as difficult as possible for police to catch you afterward. Defeats the purpose otherwise. But in some glorious cases, the crooks contribute to their own downfalls.
That’s exactly what happened to Brandon Campbell. According to CBS Denver, Campbell burglarized 15 homes in the Denver suburb of Lakewood over the weekend. Fortunately for all the victims, Campbell forgot about that pesky GPS monitoring system strapped to his ankle. The device was able to connect him to all 15 burglaries.
Campbell was required to wear the ankle bracelet while out out on bond for another case. Wondering what that case was all about? Campbell was convicted of trying to steal a GPS navigation device.
“I don’t think that there’s any doubt at all that this guy is the last guy picked on the prison Brain Bowl team,” District Attorney George Brauchler told CBS Denver. Well said, George; well said.
