Former Smiths frontman Morrissey has generated a multitude of headlines (not to mention sales) with the release of his long-awaited Autobiography. Now ex-Smiths guitar hero/frequent Moz adversary Johnny Marr has announced that he’ll be penning an autobiography as well.
In an interview with Brooklyn Vegan, Marr talked about the likelihood of putting pen to paper and telling his side of the Smiths storied history (as well as extensive collaborations with such artists as The The and Modest Mouse). Turns out it’s pretty much a done deal.
“There is gonna be one, yeah,” Marr said. “I’ve had so many offers and so many people advising me that my story is worth it, but I understand it’s something that I have to do. I’ll do it in the next couple of years. I’m into from the stance that I want it to be so thorough that I don’t make a record or tour whilst I was doing it. It is gonna happen, and I’ve already made an agreement with a publisher for it, so I will get it done.”
Johnny Marr is currently touring America in support of his first solo album, The Messenger, released back in February of this year.
