An Atlanta-area sheriff’s deputy is the lucky recipient of Jack’s coveted ‘Dumbass of the Day’ distinction.
According to CNN, Darrell Mathis was busted selling marijuana out of his squad car, while wearing his uniform. Apparently he thought this made it all legal, telling an informant that he wasn’t worried about selling pot because he “drives safely” and could just show his “police credentials to get out of tickets if stopped.” That theory turned out to be wrong. After making a deal to sell lots of weed to an undercover officer, Mathis was arrested with a pound of pot in his possession. Oh ya, and he was carrying his service pistol, which is also a crime. He’s is now charged with possession of marijuana and carrying a firearm during a drug deal, which could land him in prison for life if a jury agrees that he’s an idiot.
No comment from Mathis so far, as he’s probably too busy trying to figure out how his fool-proof drug scheme possibly went wrong.
