Shirley Manson, the lustrous frontwoman of Garbage, is celebrating her 47th birthday today.
The Scottish singer and actress was born in Edinburgh (in 1966) — she got her start in the music world by singing backup and playing keyboards with the band Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie.
In 1994, Manson joined producers Duke Erikson and Butch Vig in their project called Garbage. The band’s debut, self-titled album was released a year later and would sell over 4 million copies — thanks to two big radio hits, “I’m Only Happy When It Rains,” and “Stupid Girl.”
You may have also seen Manson in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles back in 2008 (though a lot of people didn’t see that flick).
So, from all of us at JACK, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!
