D.J. Ashba, a replacement guitar player in Guns N’ Roses, may have gotten the Las Vegas Police Department in deep poo-poo — thanks to social media, of course.
After posting a picture on Instagram of his girlfriend (now fiancee) in a helicopter, he thanked the department for the “most amazing” private helicopter tour over the city. Ashba went on to say that the magical ride ended in a field at police headquarters where he eventually proposed.
Doesn’t sound too bad, right?
Well, the ride for those two “civilians” comes as the department is struggling to stay afloat — the city’s sheriff has been pushing to increase the sales tax in Clark County — which includes Las Vegas — from 8.1 to 8.25 percent. Sheriff Doug Gillespie says it’s the only way to close a $30 million budget hole.
The department says it has launched an internal investigation into finding out how it was able to pay for the joy ride of a C-List celebrity.
