The Wild And Scenic Music Festival In Leavenworth [Interview]

I met Hunter Hendrickson in a bar in Fremont…

He was onstage making announcements after Star Anna played, about an upcoming all day music festival to raise money for underprivileged kids to get out in nature. His program is The Wild And Scenic Institute, and he’s putting on a big show called The Wild And Scenic Music Festival on August 31st featuring The Barn Owls,  Renegade String Band,  Buzz Brump, Fruition, Erin Mcnamee, The Pickup Truckers, The Warren G Hardings, Star Anna, Blackberry Bushes, and Chumstick Liberation Front.

Hunter told me all about it here, and about some remarkable kids he’s helped help themselves along the way:  a wheelchair bound child with Cerebral Palsy who was inspired to go rafting for the first time and a refugee from east Africa who went on his first WSI outing in 2002 as a teenager and now volunteers with us by recruiting groups of refugees and ESL students from his old high school in Tukwila.
