Spokane Hotel Trasher: Sleeping Pills Made Me Do It
In addition to sleepwalking, sleep eating and sleep driving, Ambien users may have another side effect to worry about: involuntary drunkenness and tendency to destroy stuff.
According to CBS Seattle, the superintendent of a Spokane-area school district is accused of vandalizing a local hotel room, throwing cleaning supplies and other stuff off the roof of the hotel and generally causing a disturbance. And he says sleeping pills made him do it. When police came to ask him about the mess, he initially told them he didn’t remember anything. His lawyer later said his client was in an “involuntarily intoxicated” state because of the Ambien. JACK’s curious how this one will hold up in court.
Meanwhile, the drowsy superintendent has been given some paid time off to catch up on his sleep while the district investigates.
