Ya ever wonder why the music from our small fishing village of Seattle is so freakin’ good? Well, it’s partly due to the dudes behind the mixing boards.
Several producers who helped make local artists legendary (Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Kurt Cobain, the list goes on…) are still producing, recording and playing music today.
For instance, you may not be familiar with the name Steve Fisk, but you are familiar with the dozens of artists he’s worked with. Fisk has been in the music industry since the early 1980s, working as a musician, producer and an engineer. He was being the boards with Soundgarden, Nirvana and the Screaming Trees. Additional bands Fisk produced for or worked as a music engineer include The Posies, Harvey Danger and Beat Happening.
