We Washingtonians have to wait a long time, and drive a long way, when hometown rockers Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart team up with the a son of a Zeppelin, Jason Bonham, in concert.
When I spoke with Nancy before she and Ann headed to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she said she and her sister were looking for the next big thing, and presto! A concert full of their biggest hits combined with Ann singing lead on a bunch of Led Zeppelin numbers, seems to be the ticket of the summer. (That interview can be heard here.)
Jason Bonham is the son of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Jason’s long-running show has been touted as pure gold among his dad’s die-hard fans. Now, add in Ann Wilson’s performance of Stairway To Heaven as seen at a recent presidential tribute night for Led, and you get a massive road show. (Watch that thing of beauty here.)
From Heart’s Facebook page, we get the set list from last night’s West Palm Beach show:
What About Love
Even It Up
Need You To Turn To
Dear Old America
Crazy On You
Battle Of Evermore
Great, huh? The catch is, we here in the greater Seattle area are just about last on the tour – we have to wait until August 30th, and, we have to travel to the little town of Ridgefield, WA, about 2 and 1/2 hours south without traffic.
But we can go to Bumbershoot on Labor Day weekend – and see Heart – but I see no mention of Jason….
Is a full dose of hits from 2 major acts worth it to you? This writer says, HELL YEAH! ROAD TRIP!
