Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ new song “Can’t Hold Us” is certainly a good one for getting pumped up, and apparently the Oklahoma City Thunder agree. According to KING 5 News, the team is using the anthem to rile up the crowds at homes games. The trouble is, Macklemore doesn’t approve. In a response to a fan’s tweet, the Seattle rapper said, “OH HELL NO.” As you probably know, the Thunder were formerly the Sonics, before heading to Oklahoma in 2008 . Fans of Macklemore know he’s an avid supporter of local sports teams, so you can understand the sentiment.
“Can’t Hold Us” is the pair’s second song to hit number one on the Billboard charts. The video has almost 25 million hits on YouTube.
Former Sonics player Detlef Schrempf also weighed in with a tweet Monday saying, “that’s ours.”
