Fleetwood Mac is making good on their promise to release new songs. And 4 is the lucky number. But does their song-writing stand the test of time?
The band has released a mini-album, known as an EP (which means Extended Play and which they’ve cleverly named “Extended Play“) . It dropped Tuesday via iTunes.
Here’s the band performing Sad Angel from Extended Play last month on tour:
Band member Lindsey Buckingham wrote alone on “Sad Angel,” along with two other new tunes — “It Takes Time” and “Miss Fantasy.”
The fourth track, “Without You,” was written by Buckingham along with Stevie Nicks, but there’s a very cool story about that:
“Without You,” turns out to be a lost song, written many moons ago when Lindsey and Stevie were the 2 person act known as “Buckingham-Nicks,” and before they joined Fleetwood Mac.
A post on Fleetwood Mac’s website says the song had been “lost,” but was “happily rediscovered when someone posted an early demo of it on YouTube.”
“Extended Play” is the first set of new material by the band Fleetwood Mac since “Say You Will” in 2003.
