Amanda Knox To Find Out If She Faces Retrial
(Rome) — The Seattle college student who was imprisoned and later freed from Italian custody over a murder finds out today if she’ll face retrial. Amanda Knox’s attorney Theodore Simon says the case against his client was weak to begin with.
Knox and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were cleared in the 2007 murder of exchange student Meredith Kercher, after they had been convicted in her death in a 2009 trial. Prosecutors filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of Italy and will learn if their efforts for a new trial were successful today. Knox has kept a low profile since the verdict was overturned.
