The biggest metal band in the world has not only conquered the festival circuit, it’s created its own. Metallica has announced the complete line up for its second annual Orion Music + More Festival, set for June 8 and 9 at Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. Among the headliners for this year’s event are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Rise Against and Bassnectar.
“Last year’s Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members,” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said in a press release. “The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in ’13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the f*** on!”
Other acts on the diverse bill include Silversun Pickups, Foals, Dropkick Murphys, Dillon Francis, the Bronx and Japandriods. In a nod to host city Detroit, acts like Death, Battlecross and the Dirtbombs will represent the Motor City. See the complete lineup here.
Beyond the 30 bands performing on five live music stages, Orion Music + More will also feature attractions based on each member of Metallica. These include James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent, Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp and Kirk Hammett’s Crypt.
Tickets for the festival go onsale to the public this Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. ET. Two-day passes will run $150, including all fees. VIP passes are priced at $750. The Metallica Met Club pre-sale starts on Tuesday, February 26, while the Orion Music + More E-list members will begin on Wednesday, February 27.
