Sacramento Mayor Reveals Plan To Keep Kings
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is revealing a group of local investors who want to keep the Kings from moving to Seattle. Johnson says he has commitments from 19 local business leaders who are willing to invest one million dollars each. Johnson says he will reveal one more major investor by the end of the week. NBA Commissioner David Stern has given Johnson permission to submit a counter offer to the board of governors.
Griffey Jr. Headed To Mariners Hall Of Fame
Ken Griffey Jr. will be inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame, the club announced yesterday. The ceremony will take place prior to the M’s game against the Brewers on August 10th. Griffey hit .284 with 630 home runs and 1,836 RBI over 2,671 career games. He spent the first 11 years and final two seasons of his career in Seattle.
Sounders Select Bates Fifth Overall In Supplemental Draft
