When one of our heroes goes down, (Lance Armstrong), we are reminded of some of our other favorite jocks from the past, who went down a sad path of shame.
Tiger Woods – A dominant force in golf, spending nearly 10 years as the world’s number one. From December 2009 to early April 2010, Woods took leave from professional golf to focus on his marriage after he admitted infidelity. But then his multiple infidelities were revealed by several different women. This was followed by a loss of form, and his ranking gradually fell to a low of No. 58 in November 2011.Getty Images

Baseball’s Barry Bonds – a central figure in baseball’s steroids scandal. In 2007, he was indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to the grand jury during the government’s investigation of BALCO, by testifying that he never knowingly took any illegal steroids. He was convicted in 2011 on the obstruction of justice and then later Bonds was denied entry into baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown during his first year of eligibility on the ballot.Getty Images
Tonya Harding (Left, in another failed career) – We didn’t really know about this championship-level figure skater in the early 1990s who failed to walk away with a medal at the 1992 Olympics, until in 1994, when her rival Nancy Kerrigan was kneecapped by a strange man – connected to Harding – during skating practice. Michael Vick – quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles -In April 2007, Vick was implicated in an illegal interstate dog fighting ring that had operated for five years. In August 2007, he pleaded guilty to federal felony charges and served 21 months in prison, followed by two months in home confinement.Getty Images

Kobe Bryant had three NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers by age 23, but then the shocking allegation: Bryant was accused of rape in the summer of 2003. Kobe did confess to adultery, but denied any rape charge. Getty Images
Ben Roethlisberger – Seattle-ites already don’t like him for his dishonest touchdown in THAT Big Game –but he also shocked his team, fans and city when he was accused of raping a college student in March 2010.Getty Images
