Watch Axl Rose on ‘Jimmy Kimmel': First TV Interview in 20 Years
Last night (October 24), Axl Rose made a very rare TV appearance, giving an even more rare interview, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Not only was it the Guns N’ Roses’ frontman’s first TV interview in two decades, but he showed up right on time – something he doesn’t often do (like, for example, at last weekend’s Bridge School Benefit). Host Kimmel seemed as surprised as anyone, flat-out asking Axl why he finally agreed to the interview.
Of course, fans know that it likely has something to do with Guns N’ Roses’ upcoming 12-show residency in Vegas, which kicks off Halloween and runs through November 24th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Axl was in high spirits and joked around with Kimmel more and more as the interview went on. Watch below, in three parts.
Among the info gleaned from the interview: Axl loves Halloween, and his favorite personal costume was an ear of corn (yes, really). Notably, he has a Halloween tree in his house, which is just like a Christmas tree except for Halloween. He uses it to taunt trick-or-treaters. “That’s the most evil thing I’ve ever done,” Rose joked. “I say to them [the kids], ‘You mean you don’t have a Halloween tree?’”
Axl also sang the praises of Neil Young, whom he met for the first time at this past weekend’s Bridge School Benefit, and Elton John’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, whom he called his favorite lyricist of all-time.
