Regardless of what the weather may look like on August 10th through the 12th, it’s going to be very colorful at the Seattle Center. Why, you ask? It’s the Seattle Tattoo Expo’s 11th Year of Ink!
“It’s not just for people who have several tattoos,” says founder and producer of the event, Gloria Connors. “It’s perfect for people who have interest [in tattoos] but are too intimidated to go to a shop; The focus isn’t all on them [at the event].”
Connors even goes as far as saying the expo is a family event…as long as your family digs “alternative art.” (But you’re a JACK listener, so of course you dig alternative art!)
And of course, if you are looking to get some ink, there are hundreds of artists displaying their work.
There are some cool events too, including a couple of contests. For the first time, the expo will be holding the Best “Job-Stopper” Contest. No hidden message here, my friends. The winner of this competition will have a set of tats that absolutely prevents them from getting a job (that isn’t a tattoo artist).
“A lot of 18-year-olds get tattoos that they wish they hadn’t,” says Connors.
To qualify for this one, your ink has to be on your wrists, hands, neck…and yes, it’ll help if you have a face tattoo.
And if you want to make your trip an informal one, there are going to be several seminars each day — it’s essential for those who are thinking about getting a tat and need more info, as well as aspiring artists.
So join us for the event. We’re going to be at the expo getting some “traffic-stopping” pictures.
