Sir George Martin, the legendary producer of nearly all of The Beatles’ recordings, is the subject of a documentary coming to DVD and Blu-Ray this fall. Appropriately titled Produced By George Martin, the doc features Martin discussing his childhood, his war experience, music and more.
Produced By George Martin aired on England’s BBC in 2001, but this version contains nearly an hour of additional interviews not included in the broadcast version. Some of Martin’s disciples were interviewed, including producers Rick Rubin (who has worked with Metallica,Adele, Neil Diamond, Mick Jagger and The Red Hot Chili Peppers) and T-Bone Burnett (who has worked with Elvis Costello, Gregg Allman and B.B. King). Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were also interviewed in the documentary, as was Jeff Beck (Martin produced his 1975 landmark album Blow By Blow). Other artists to work with Sir George include Cheap Trick, America and Celine Dion.
Produced By George Martin is due out on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 11.
