Crosby, Stills & Nash are having a big year: They’re in the midst of a summer tour, and they’re about to release a live album/DVD, CSN 2012, recorded earlier this year. Featuring a number of their classics – including “Carry On,” “Marrakesh Express,” “Long Time Gone,” “Southern Cross” and “Wasted On The Way” – it also contains new songs, “Radio” and “Almost Gone,” as well as a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Girl From The North Country.”

When we caught up with the band at the studios for CBS This Morning, the band told CBS Local that when the cameras started rolling for what would become their soon-to-be-released live DVD, the three of them and their backing musicians delivered a particularly memorable show.

However, some fans may be wondering about the status of the next new CSN album. It’s been 13 years since CSNY’s Looking Forward, and 18 years since the last proper Crosby, Stills and Nash record, 1994’s After The Storm. CSN had been working with producer Rick Rubin, who has also recently worked with Adele on her multi-Grammy-winning 21, as well as upcoming albums by ZZ Top and Black Sabbath. The proposed album, which had been in the works for years, was going to be an album of all covers – an idea CSN are still considering, despite parting ways with Rubin.

For fans who like their CSN with a little Y – occasional member Neil Young – it’s anybody’s guess when the mercurial guitarist/singer will work with the band again. Young and his longtime band Crazy Horse just released Americana and will tour later this year. But there is some good news: Graham Nash, the band’s resident archivist, is working on a live box set from CSNY’s 1974 tour.

Nash says to look for the box set in early 2013. CSN 2012, meanwhile, is due out July 17, and Crosby, Stills and Nash are currently on the road. You can see a preview of their show when they perform on CBS This Morning: Saturday this week (June 23).
