Jimmy Fallon has come to be known for his impressions of classic rockers like Neil Young and Bob Dylan, but for his second album, the Late Night host and Saturday Night Live alum recruited music stars instead of just imitating them. On the album, titled Blow Your Pants Off, Fallon gets an assist from Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Justin Timberlake, Dave Matthews and more.
But those who are fond of Fallon’s exaggerated portrayals of rock royalty are in luck as well, as the album features his impersonations of Young, Dylan, David Bowie and The Doors’ Jim Morrison from Late Night. In fact, most of the songs on Blow Your Pants Off have first been seen on NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, a show that’s known for its musical slant and Fallon’s collaborations with his guests.
“Scrambled Eggs,” for example, features McCartney and Fallon performing an early version of the Beatles’ “Yesterday,” in which McCartney famously used the phrase “scrambled eggs” instead of “yesterday” in the chorus. “Neil Young Sings ‘Whip My Hair’” was a viral hit when Fallon first premiered in on the show in November 2010, when Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” was all the rage. The slow, Young-style cover of the pop single was a duet between Fallon’s character and Bruce Springsteen, clad in ’70s style costume.
Fallon’s first album, 2002′s The Bathroom Wall, is comprised of half stand-up comedy, half musical parody songs.
