Tom Petty has offered a $7500 no-questions-asked reward for information leading to the return of 5 rare and vintage guitars that were stolen from the Culver City California soundstage where the Heartbreakers were rehearsing for their 2012 tour, which starts this Thursday, April 19th, and does not yet include a Pacific Northwest appearance. Really one of the lowest crimes one can commit is the theft of the tools a man uses to earn a living, in this case:
Tom’s 1967 12-String Rickenbacker 360 and Gibson SG TV Junior, Ron Blair’s Fender Broadcaster, Scott Thurston’s 1967 Epiphone Sheridan, and Mike Campbell’s custom-built Mike Campbell Model Dusenberg, made to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary. Keep an eye on those pawn shops, a collection of vintage axes like that would want to get out of L.A. in a hurry, and may be headed up I-5!
