It looks like Black Sabbath may finally be set to announce reunion plans of some sort. The Black Sabbath web site is pictured above, so there will likely be no official confirmation until November 11th. That’s the original Black Sabbath logo and the four original members of the band are scheduled to attend a special announcement ceremony 11/11/11. It’s being held at Hollywood’s Whiskey A Go Go at 11:11 a.m., exactly 41 years after the band first took the stage in Los Angeles opening for Alice Cooper.
Even before the announcement ceremony was booked, 11/11/11 was declared National Metal Day by VH1 Classic. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward are all scheduled to attend the ceremony hosted by former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins.
Rumors of a reunion and denials have been flying for months with Rolling Stone noting “In August, the Birmingham Mail published an interview with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi essentially confirming that the Ozzy-era lineup of the band was going to reform… Iommi released a furious statement when the quotes hit the Internet, but in a brilliant non-denial denial, he never actually denied saying the quotes, nor did he deny that Sabbath were reforming. He mainly just seemed angry that the story had leaked earlier than he had planned.”
While we wait for the announcement, here’s some classic Black Sabbath:

And we’ve all seen the minivan commercial where the whole family sings Ozzy, but here’s a whole elementary school chorus doing Iron Man:
