The Beastie Boys are coming to Broadway. Okay, it’s not all the Beastie Boys, and it’s off-Broadway, but who knows where it could lead. XXL reports Adam Horovitz “will score original music for the off-Broadway play, Gloucester Blue, written by none other than his playwright father, Israel Horovitz.”

Ad Rock’s father is a celebrated author and playwright. Israel Horovitz has written a host of well-known plays including LINE, now in it’s 39th year off-Broadway. BroadwayWorld.com says Glouster Blue is “part of the nine week STRIPPED festival of works about ‘sex, murder, revenge… and sex,’ presented by Barefoot Theatre Company.” Gloucester Blue, which will also be directed by the playwright, opens November 16th and runs through December 3rd at Manhattan’s Cherry Lane Studio Theatre.

With rockers from U2 to Green Day currently having works on Broadway, who knows, we could eventually see the Beastie Boys winning Tony Awards!  Until then, enjoy Adam and company live at 1994′s MTV Video Music Awards:
