There’s a rumor Eddie Murphy might make a surprise return to Saturday Night Live this weekend.  NME Magazine is reporting “NBC bosses are thought to be hoping the actor, who was announced as the host of next year’s Oscar ceremony, will make an appearance on October 8 with his Tower Heist co-star Ben Stiller.”

You’ll have to tune in to see if Murphy makes a cameo appearance or shows up in a few skits.  NME notes Eddie has “recently revealed that he is ‘tempted’ to make a return to stand-up comedy.”  Murphy has been tabbed to host the 2012 Oscar ceremonies and was a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984.
