Rock stars endorsing wines seem to be the latest fad, with members of Motorhead, KISS, AC/DC, and more pushing bottles of one sort or another. Superloud.net reports Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister is the latest rocker to endorse the grape with his own brand of wines that, “have been selling well in Sweden.” Lemmy’s apparently introducing the wine to his home country of the U.K. soon.
Lemmy told NoiseCreep.com he launched the Shiraz in Sweden last year, selling 120,000 bottles! Kilmister warns his fans saying, “approach it with caution. I mean, wine is deceptive, anything could happen.” Other rockers with their own wines include Whitesnake‘s David Coverdale, AC/DC and Queensryche‘s Geoff Tate. Superloud.com notes Warrant‘s Napa Valley Red is available in the U.S. from artistwine.com, as are two blends featuring the rock band Ratt. According to antiMUSIC, the masters of merch KISS have a an official line of beer and wine too at KISSrockdrinks.com. What a long, strange trip it’s been for rock star endorsed wines. The Grateful Dead have had bottles of Grateful Red available for years.
