Yesterday, June 12, at 3:00pm, while people were dining at three Seattle area Marie Callender’s restaurants, the managers got a call from corporate. The news? Shut ‘er down. Now.
The Northgate, Federal Way and Spokane restaurants kicked out the people dining, and shut the doors. At Northgate, there was a party of 25 celebrating a birthday. They had to put their forks down and leave. Then management had to tell all the employees they no longer had jobs.
On Monday morning, the restaurant chain’s parent company, Perkins & Marie Callender’s Inc., announced that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Marie Callendar’s also closed four restaurants in Oregon and many more in California.
