Good news, Willie Nelson was only charged with a misdemeanor on his recent pot bust… Wait, did it have anything to do with his donation to the sheriff’s “Gifts for Children” Program? Let me explain…..
Texas officials have formally charged Willie Nelson with a misdemeanor instead of a felony on his recent bust for possession of marijuana. Willie was arrested by the Hudspeth County, Texas Sheriff. Everyone thought Willie would be charged with a felony because he was holding six ounces of weed when he was arrested. But officials are now saying it was less than four ounces, and that makes it just a misdemeanor.
So instead of a maximum sentence of two years in prison plus a $10,000 fine Willie is only looking at a $4,000 fine and a one-year term. And TMZ.com is saying that Willie won’t be seeing any jail time at all.
Okay, so here’s the good part. I checked out Willie’s Twitter page and saw that on Friday he Tweeted a request for everyone to donate to a charity recommended by the Hudspeth County’s Sheriff’s Office. Yeah, the cops who said he had six ounces. Here’s that Tweet, quote, “Donate to the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office Gifts for The Children program. http://bit.ly/eVgLv3.”
(–Is this as simple as it sounds? Did Willie agree to donate to the Sheriff’s favorite charity in exchange for them suddenly realizing he wasn’t holding enough pot to be charged with a felony?)
