Back in 1910, construction was very intensive, as over 180,000 cubic yards of soil had to be removed with steam shovels and sluicing. This stadium has played host to many famous people, including Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Babe Ruth, and many more. While originally designed for a 32,000 capacity, the soil in the area was not capable of supporting the weight, and the stadium underwent a renovation in the 1970s to rectify this problem.
